Our community art project "The Leaf Project" is back! Don't miss your chance to see this wonderful display of creativity from our community at Town Hall this summer.
After being unveiled in the Gallery last fall, these beautiful works have been reconfigured and displayed in the main hall of our town's municipal office. Drop by Town Hall, 111 Sandiford Drive, Monday to Friday 8am - 5pm to see it in person. The Leaf Project is on display until Friday, August 24.
The Leaf Project
In 2017, we invited our community to help us create The Leaf Project - a hanging art installation made up of more than 1800 unique leaves to celebrate the diversity of Stouffville's growing community. The Leaf Project included leaves made from a variety of materials and using a wide range of techniques - including the Japanese art of shibori, embroidery, watercolour, printmaking, collage techniques, drawing, stamping, and more. Several hundreds of people attended workshops and art-making sessions last fall to try new techniques, learn from local artists, and create expressive, unique leaves with their friends and families. Schools, local artists, and community groups from the region got in on the action too. We were, and still are, thrilled with the outpouring of support for this project and the participation of so many people from our community and beyond. Participants of all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels contributed leaves to bring this project to life!
