The Latcham Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new works by Toronto-based artist Linda Martinello from January 13 to February 24. Come and meet the artist at the opening reception of Città Rinata on Saturday, January 13 from 1 pm to 3 pm.
Linda Martinello’s drawings and paintings on drafting film explore the landscape through personal memory and research of historical and culturally significant places. She combines oil painting with graphite drawing to create exquisite abstracted images from her recollections and research of the places she travels. For her exhibition at the gallery, Città Rinata, which translates to “city reborn or “rebirth of a city”, Martinello reflects on her time spent in the ancient cave town of Matera in Southern Italy and investigates the rich and complex history of one of the oldest continually inhabited cities in the world. This exhibition is part of Next, an exhibition series that features an up and coming emerging artist pushing the boundaries of their contemporary art practice.
